These ideas have gained so much traction recently that groups like DataPortability.org and OpenID have made many pundits' lists of "what will be hot in 2008." But while reports this week show that OpenID and DataPortability.org are gaining support from giants like Google, Facebook, IBM, and Verisign, a number of lingering questions about security and privacy remain. ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Same host - [You can't always judge an eBook by its cover: a review of the Amazon Kindle](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/0f471202d688/) (arstechnica.com, November 26, 2007) - [Chinese official on SMS voting: txtng votes ripe 4 abuse](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/384ca64789fe/) (arstechnica.com, March 5, 2008) - [The night the IETF turned off IPv4](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/86c0870f03af/) (arstechnica.com, March 13, 2008) - [From BFS to ZFS: past, present, and future of file systems](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/32f7ecdce34d/) (arstechnica.com, March 17, 2008) - [Metallica "ear spanks" management, reinstates online reviews](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/892cc3a97081/) (arstechnica.com, June 12, 2008) ## Saved the same week - [Why HD Won't Save Radio, And Why Fred Wilson Thinks It Will](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/5c23199cfe33/) (businessinsider.com, January 9, 2008) - [Jason Fried discusses Highrise, red flag words, opinionated companies, and benevolent dictators](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/6814cac285b4/) (37signals.com, January 9, 2008) - [Ask 37signals: Why did you restart Highrise?](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/276c6ec38650/) (37signals.com, January 9, 2008) - [Use Highrise cases to track internal staff](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/ea1350dce202/) (37signals.blogs.com, January 9, 2008) - [Newsgator turns NetNewsWire free for everyone](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/078334a7a933/) (tuaw.com, January 9, 2008) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2008/01/openid-and-dataportability-to-gain-major-support/
