But there’s been some debate as to whether collaboration vendors’ reported uptime jives with reality. You might think you could rely instead on public services like www.isitdownrightnow.com or www.downdetector.com, but their measurements are made from their offices or datacenters – not yours. And they don’t provide any detail around what isn’t working: is it just the website? Or is their SMTP service degraded such that you can’t send outgoing messages? Or maybe their message store is down? Or maybe their public SMTP service is down, so they’re not receiving messages from external services. It’s hard to know. ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Same host - [Monitoring our SumoLogic Usage for Faster Issue Resolution - LogicMonitor](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/29bea8881da1/) (logicmonitor.com, July 21, 2015) - [Design Dynamics of Delightful Dashboards](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/9d39be5227d6/) (logicmonitor.com, August 19, 2015) - [AWS monitoring release](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/ca5d965b8261/) (logicmonitor.com, September 15, 2015) - [Identifying Unused AWS Resources to Control Costs - LogicMonitor](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/53690947f703/) (logicmonitor.com, September 29, 2015) - [LogicMonitor Integrates With PagerDuty to Automate Incident Workflow](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/e4d240926774/) (logicmonitor.com, February 23, 2016) ## Saved the same week - [How to organize notes with folders in Notes.app for Mac](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/5dcd0384d6f6/) (thesweetsetup.com, February 11, 2016) - [Task Management Pain Points – The Overachiever](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/18e4e3072972/) (macsparky.com, February 11, 2016) - [New – Access Resources in a VPC from Your Lambda Functions](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/59ef0c094683/) (aws.amazon.com, February 11, 2016) - [Netflix finishes its massive migration to the Amazon cloud](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/016b7a995e4c/) (arstechnica.com, February 11, 2016) - [The Leica Q](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/0d187ef6277f/) (craigmod.com, February 12, 2016) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.logicmonitor.com/blog/2016/02/11/outsource-your-email-but-keep-your-boss-happy/
