# More resilient and user-controlled than AWS: Colin Evran's vision for Filecoin - Host: [cointelegraph.com](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/hosts/cointelegraph.com/) - Saved: September 22, 2022 (2022-09-22T12:02:16Z) - Record: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/4808d38a765f/ - JSON: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/4808d38a765f.json ## What Jamie wrote Storing data for a long time, well beyond my lifetime, is something I wonder about. I fully intend to make sure that my blog, photos, and all my writing online is setup in some way that I can insure it is online for as long as possible, hopefully "forever". Filecoin is interesting for a number of reasons, but one of them is that the economics of storing the data can be built into the contracts on the blockchain. > Via further updates, it is possible to create DeFi instruments that auto-renew deals for tokenholders, creating essentially a "perpetual storage" network. This is intriguing to me, in addition to other use cases. _Disclosure: I have a small investment in [Seal Storage](https://www.sealstorage.io), a Filecoin provider._ ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Appears in - [WT227: Weekly Thing #227 / Attention, Minnedemo, Learning](https://weekly.thingelstad.com/archive/227/), Notable ## Same host - [Discord drops Ethereum and NFT integration plans after backlash](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/8209f91a92c6/) (cointelegraph.com, November 18, 2021) - [Gnosis Chain spends $5M on validator incentive program for decentralization](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/b3ab088f1e16/) (cointelegraph.com, May 9, 2023) - [Another dormant Ethereum wallet reawakens after 8 years, moving millions](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/92ed50baa532/) (cointelegraph.com, June 1, 2023) - [Stripe opens testing for new stablecoin product following Bridge acquisition](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/8e127645aa1a/) (cointelegraph.com, May 1, 2025) ## Saved the same week - [Crucial Questions from CEOs and Boards](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/9f0a5ce54f5f/) (philvenables.com, September 22, 2022) - [Doc Searls Weblog ยท Attention is not a commodity](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/1574901e2494/) (blogs.harvard.edu, September 22, 2022) - [Take Care of Your Blog](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/e5a9b7dc6fb4/) (robinrendle.com, September 22, 2022) - [DAOs are not corporations: where decentralization in autonomous organizations matters](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/679fb3f80c8d/) (vitalik.ca, September 22, 2022) - [IYK - POAP Card](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/003efe246e4c/) (iyk.app, September 22, 2022) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://cointelegraph.com/news/more-resilient-and-user-controlled-than-the-aws-colin-evran-s-vision-for-filecoin
