  "note": "When I was a kid I couldn't wait to get my drivers license, and as soon as I could I wanted a car of my own. Why? I suppose that it represented a sort of freedom and independence. Now, our daughter was fine getting her license but wasn't really eager. She has friends that still don't have it. And she isn't pining for a car of her own at all.\n\nThe article touches on this, but I think smartphones are part of the reason. The freedom and independence I sought in 1988 can be realized to some extent with the phone that every teenager has in their pocket!",
