# Thanksgiving’s biggest online shopping day was Cyber Monday, but other days were close behind - Host: [blog.cloudflare.com](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/hosts/blog.cloudflare.com/) - Saved: December 1, 2021 (2021-12-02T03:40:24Z) - Record: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/75bb4a7c8504/ - JSON: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/75bb4a7c8504.json ## What Jamie wrote Interesting analysis of aggregate e-commerce traffic around Cyber Monday. > The Black Friday week definitely had a big impact on e-commerce traffic, but besides the clear winner, Cyber Monday, the podium was actually completed with the first two days in November. Those days have a big traffic peak, but the Black Friday week has more sustained traffic over five days. It is interesting that there were such high volume days earlier in November. It certainly seems that something pushed more buying activity earlier in the season than normal. My best guess is that all the news of supply chain issues got many shoppers to place orders significantly earlier than they normally would. Retailers have also been attempted to "flatten the curve" for years and perhaps they had more success this year than they have in the past. ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Appears in - [WT206: Weekly Thing #206 / Omicron, Overengineering, Endaoment](https://weekly.thingelstad.com/archive/206/), Notable ## Same host - [A Name Resolver for the Distributed Web](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/516afb117c39/) (blog.cloudflare.com, June 27, 2021) - [Web3 — A vision for a decentralized web](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/b5a49cfdabe9/) (blog.cloudflare.com, October 7, 2021) - [How Cloudflare provides tools to help keep IPFS users safe](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/af75555436b9/) (blog.cloudflare.com, October 7, 2021) - [Proof of Stake and our next experiments in web3](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/754c61ae3a93/) (blog.cloudflare.com, May 19, 2022) - [Cloudflare outage on June 21, 2022](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/be2aa5638c48/) (blog.cloudflare.com, June 22, 2022) ## Saved the same week - [The Omicron situation - by Noah Smith - Noahpinion](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/06a87b384e18/) (noahpinion.substack.com, December 1, 2021) - [Ten trends to watch in the coming year | The Economist](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/e1d29a958ebc/) (economist.com, December 1, 2021) - [Why We Need to Upgrade Our Face Masks--and Where to Get Them - Scientific American](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/d68c6aa018a0/) (scientificamerican.com, December 1, 2021) - [Square changes corporate name to Block](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/1e0553b5b1e6/) (cnbc.com, December 1, 2021) - [How to Become an Awesome Hybrid Leader - Matt Norman](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/7734f9e7d239/) (mattnorman.com, December 1, 2021) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://blog.cloudflare.com/thanksgivings-biggest-online-shopping-day-was-cyber-monday-but-other-days-were-close-behind/
