# Giving MarsEdit A Voice - Host: [red-sweater.com](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/hosts/red-sweater.com/) - Saved: November 18, 2008 (2008-11-19T00:54:13Z) - Record: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/8055cc78c53a/ - JSON: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/8055cc78c53a.json ## From the page (probably an excerpt, not Jamie's words) Peter Verkhovensky recently wished out loud on Twitter for a feature in MarsEdit. He wanted the application to play a sound when a post has been sent successfully to a blog, similar to how Mail can play a noise when sending a message. Although MarsEdit doesn’t have built-in support for this, it turns out to be relatively easy to achieve if you take advantage of the built-in Growl support. Growl is best known for its ability to display small, floating notification windows when certain actions are performed in applications, but it also supports the ability to play a sound. Peter describes the process of adding a successful post sound in this manner. Nice work, Peter, and thanks for sharing the details on how it was done. ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Same host - [It Should Be Free?](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/ece12aba0739/) (red-sweater.com, March 27, 2008) - [Check Your WordPress Security](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/126fc4bf79a0/) (red-sweater.com, April 14, 2008) - [Building A Bigger Nerd Ranch](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/00192c47ae40/) (red-sweater.com, September 25, 2008) - [The Gift Of Software](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/199aa739eb60/) (red-sweater.com, December 16, 2008) - [MarsEdit Meets Tumblr](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/371892dcfdd4/) (red-sweater.com, March 1, 2009) ## Saved the same week - [magicJack](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/71d0e29f957c/) (magicjack.com, November 17, 2008) - [Start the screen saver with Quicksilver](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/1c7000bc34db/) (leafraker.com, November 18, 2008) - [Chip Cuccio](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/06ea96aabc30/) (chip.cuccio.us, November 18, 2008) - [MacNN: Snow Leopard could ship 1Q 2009](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/d565d1b2ae82/) (tuaw.com, November 19, 2008) - [FeedBurner's View of the Feed Market](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/d12c5caf9af5/) (adsenseforfeeds.blogspot.com, November 19, 2008) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.red-sweater.com/blog/640/giving-marsedit-a-voice
