# John Sculley on Steve Jobs - Host: [cultofmac.com](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/hosts/cultofmac.com/) - Saved: October 14, 2010 (2010-10-15T03:01:14Z) - Record: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/9073ab7e83d2/ - JSON: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/9073ab7e83d2.json ## From the page (probably an excerpt, not Jamie's words) A lengthy, fascinating, interview with Sculley by Leander Kahney. Tons of good stuff to quote, but I love this passage the most: The one that Steve admired was Sony. We used to go visit Akio Morita and he had really the same kind of high-end standards that Steve did and respect for beautiful products. I remember Akio Morita gave Steve and me each one of the first Sony Walkmans. None of us had ever seen anything like that before because there had never been a product like that. This is 25 years ago and Steve was fascinated by it. The first thing he did with his was take it apart and he looked at every single part. How the fit and finish was done, how it was built. Fascinating, considering the iPods central role in Apples renaissance. ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Saved the same week - [Opera In Numbers (It’s Pretty Huge)](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/5cbb5b77de0c/) (techcrunch.com, October 14, 2010) - [Will OS X 10.7 “Lion” Be The King Of The Apple Jungle, The Last Of Its Kind, Or Both?](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/c38a36fa9f41/) (techcrunch.com, October 14, 2010) - [How I Use OmniFocus to Organize My Life](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/fa90cc554ae1/) (tyler.io, October 14, 2010) - [How Much Does It Cost to Develop a Good iPhone Application?](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/177c68ca784d/) (stackoverflow.com, October 14, 2010) - [Audible Commit Messages with CommitBot](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/089cdf8ac516/) (blog.gleitzman.com, October 15, 2010) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.cultofmac.com/63295/john-sculley-on-steve-jobs-the-full-interview-transcript/
