# Speedtesting Qwests Heavy Duty DSL - Host: [garrickvanburen.com](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/hosts/garrickvanburen.com/) - Saved: March 23, 2011 (2011-03-23T16:41:56Z) - Record: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/92085da245b1/ - JSON: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/92085da245b1.json ## From the page (probably an excerpt, not Jamie's words) After a decade with Speakeasy, I switched to Qwest for my DSL. From what I understand, Qwest has fiber running to the my block with copper the house. Additionally as I understand this switch from copper to fiber means Qwest is no longer compelled to make bandwidth available to resellers like Speakeasy. The copper turns into WiFi once it gets inside my house, then down the basement to me. Ive got sneaking suspicion that I could squeak out a few more Mbs and shorten the ping times by moving the phone jack downstairs and running ethernet to my primary machine. The first few days, the throughputs were highly erratic but everything seems to have stabilized quite nicely. ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Same host - [Arise, Mechanical Turks, Arise](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/43edb8b0e595/) (garrickvanburen.com, November 2, 2010) - [Peerless](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/74ca8e76cc80/) (garrickvanburen.com, December 10, 2010) - [Imported from Detroit](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/7f4b296b68ed/) (garrickvanburen.com, February 6, 2011) - [Plain Text Persists](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/d8a1f5bbe4fd/) (garrickvanburen.com, February 15, 2011) - [Scott Adams on Opt-out](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/d882eba1f75f/) (garrickvanburen.com, August 7, 2011) ## Saved the same week - [Graphite - Enterprise Scalable Realtime Graphing - Graphite](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/1326980a23ae/) (graphite.wikidot.com, March 23, 2011) - [Beetailer Lets Ecommerce Web Stores Easily Import Products to a Facebook Page Storefront](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/9391e7018101/) (insidefacebook.com, March 23, 2011) - [TimelineSetter: A New Way to Display Timelines on the Web - ProPublica](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/08a91566ddf5/) (propublica.org, March 23, 2011) - [Updraft Minnesota Public Radio](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/9082c7d02d62/) (blogs.mprnews.org, March 23, 2011) - [Wall Street Journal launches $1.99 single-issue downloads within Apple iPad app](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/593b57a01786/) (macdailynews.com, March 24, 2011) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://garrickvanburen.com/archive/speedtesting-qwests-heavy-duty-dsl/
