I highlighted Galloway's comments on Pivot in [Weekly Thing 276](https://weekly.thingelstad.com/archive/276/). He took that same topic to his newsletter.

Democrats and Republicans have introduced legislation, including to age-gate social and to reform Section 230 (which immunizes internet platforms from most litigation), but nothing gets done. Senator Durbin [had it right](https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/press/releases/durbin-delivers-opening-statement-during-senate-judiciary-committee-hearing-examining-big-techs-failures-to-protect-kids-from-sexual-exploitation-online): "The tech industry alone is not to blame for the situation we're in. Those of us in Congress need to look in the mirror."

Galloway can rail on social media even better than I, but we need to stop giving legislatures credit for having hearings and posting clips about heated questions. That means nothing. Do your job and at least protect kids.
