Not galaxies far away, not fairy tales. Parking lots, parade floats, dead ends, second chances. We were always almost—almost boomers, almost millennials, almost grown up before the world caught fire. The reel runs out, and all that’s left is the ache of time passing, and the hope somebody was watching with us. Movies are stories and stories are how people share the best. Do the stories shape us or we shape the stories? Of course both. As I read this list so many of those movies lit up my brain with deep memories. ## Facts - Kind: [Newsletter](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/newsletter/) ## Appears in - [WT330: Weekly Thing 330 / Music, Intervals, Nanochat](https://weekly.thingelstad.com/archive/330/), Notable ## Saved the same week - [Customize Claude Code with plugins Anthropic](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/98d99aa751fb/) (anthropic.com, October 16, 2025) - [Wikidata Launches Free Vector Database as Open Alternative to Closed AI Systems](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/81736f57051b/) (news.itsfoss.com, October 16, 2025) - [Write It Down](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/486b34067068/) (write-it-down.com, October 16, 2025) - [Herd - Browser Superpowers & MCP Servers for AI Agents](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/1d03a3d82467/) (herd.garden, October 16, 2025) - [A small number of samples can poison LLMs of any size Anthropic](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/65bde153ed6b/) (anthropic.com, October 16, 2025) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/https://markmcinerney.substack.com/p/the-movies-that-defined-gen-x
