# The New Backpack's First 24 Hours - Host: [37signals.com](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/hosts/37signals.com/) - Saved: February 20, 2008 (2008-02-20T16:03:00Z) - Record: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/b07eb08191e4/ - JSON: https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/b07eb08191e4.json ## From the page (probably an excerpt, not Jamie's words) Yesterday’s big Backpack update was a huge success. It was the best day in Backpack’s history — even better than the last big update in July ‘07 and add anywhere in Oct ‘07. We usually don’t share numbers, but we thought we’d break tradition and give people a peek into Backpack’s signups, upgrades, and financial performance yesterday. 317 Upgrades Yesterday 317 people upgraded their Backpack accounts. This includes free → paying upgrades and paying → paying upgrades. Here’s how they broke out: 2 Max ($149/month) 1 Premium ($99/month) 12 Plus ($49/month) 54 Basic ($24/month) 111 Home ($12/month) 137 Solo ($7/month) 61 New Pay Signups Yesterday 61 people signed up for new paying plans. This means they selected a pay plan on the signup page. Here’s how it broke out: 1 Max ($149/month) 1 Premium ($99/month) 13 Plus ($49/month) 26 Basic ($24/month) 11 Home ($12/month) 9 Solo ($7/month) We had about 200 new free signups as well, so about 30% of all signups yesterday were pay signups. $4,131 New Net Upgrades + pay signups – downgrades – cancellations = $4131 new net revenue for yesterday. On an annualized basis that’s about $50,000/year. We’re very happy with that number. Thanks to all our paying customers for putting your trust in us. We hope you continue to find the new Backpack useful and valuable. We’re already finding it invaluable in keeping our own company organized (and, man, do we need it). ## Facts - Kind: [Page](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/kinds/page/) ## Same host - [Jason Fried discusses Highrise, red flag words, opinionated companies, and benevolent dictators](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/6814cac285b4/) (37signals.com, January 9, 2008) - [Ask 37signals: Why did you restart Highrise?](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/276c6ec38650/) (37signals.com, January 9, 2008) - [\[Designed\] Staircase bookshelf, ice hotel, walkstation, cupcakes, etc.](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/59d8fd20b951/) (37signals.com, February 25, 2008) - [Fire the workaholics](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/29562c181e53/) (37signals.com, March 7, 2008) - [Question your work](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/4ed4d1feb320/) (37signals.com, March 17, 2008) ## Saved the same week - [Microsoft suspends distribution of Vista SP1 prerequisite update](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/6d24a9a8e05a/) (activewin.com, February 20, 2008) - [Turn Your Favorite RSS Feeds into a Newspaper with FeedJournal \[Newsreader\]](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/6ec6d675cfd0/) (lifehacker.com, February 20, 2008) - [Twitter Web Traffic Around the World](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/6c7fc0146969/) (blog.twitter.com, February 20, 2008) - [Server Monitoring with Cacti + ServerStats | HostingFu](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/7bfd1dbdf205/) (hostingfu.com, February 20, 2008) - [wiki \[Slicehost\]](https://links.thingelstad.xyz/links/57bc267d212f/) (wiki.slicehost.com, February 20, 2008) ## Elsewhere - Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.37signals.com/svn/posts/863-the-new-backpacks-first-24-hours
