"title": "Kindle Collects a Surprisingly Large Amount of Data",
"note": "I have always assumed that the Kindle collects a tremendous amount of information about what you are reading. Seeing it all spelled out like this makes it more meaningful.\n\n> Every page that is read sends the following information:\n> \n> - Time a page was opened (when you turn to a new page, a timestamp is generated)\n> - The first character on the page (This might be something like character 7705 in the book, which is the exact location)\n> - The last character on the page\n> - If the page is images or text\n\nThis information isn't for you, it’s for Amazon to determine what you are reading. It creeps me out to think that I would be advertised a certain product because a book I’m reading is related to it. However, that is certainly happening. For reasons I can’t put my finger on, it feels more invasive because it is happening around reading.",
