Masking your email address is a really powerful tool to protect your privacy online. It is common for services to generate a token or hash from your email address and use that to target and profile you. So, even though you of course use different passwords everywhere, you can easily be tracked and matched if you use the same email address. However, using different email addresses takes time. I've been doing this with Fastmail's previous routing support, but this new masked mail service works for sending too and gives you metrics on how frequently the email address is used.
Now, connecting it to 1Password is a stroke of genius. When registering a new account using a masked email address you often are copy/pasting both an email address and generated password. Now it is super easy to do both right in the browser, and save the credentials for safe keeping in 1Password.
I've been a happy customer (family accounts!) of both Fastmail and 1Password for years now. I highly recommend both of them.
