Some observations::\n\n- This is more driven off the **700 million** users that invariably end up asking questions about things to buy. Less about AI innovation. Seems like the first thing that is audience-based.\n- OpenAI wants a piece of those transactions, and this protocol gives them that. Jointly developed with Stripe so assume Stripe merchants will be easy starting point.\n- Interesting for what it IS NOT. It is not an Agent looking at product detail pages. It is NOT an Agent doing the checkout.\n- Has (yet another) way of sharing product data. Also introduces payment APIs. No cart capability but coming.\n- Why isn't this a Retail MCP approach? OpenAI still hurt feelings they didn't make MCP.\n",
