  "note": "ReplayTV, one of the pioneers in the DVR business and now in its faded glory, has been sold by its Japanese owner D&M Holdings to DirecTV, (NYSE: DTV) for an undisclosed sum. D&M bought the ReplayTV business along with portable music player brand Rio in 2003 for about $36 million...it sold off Rio MP3 branded player business to Sigmatel in 2005, and has turned around ReplayTV's focus from the DVR box to being a software players in the DVR sector.
