Charts of the Week: Attention is All You Need

AI is impacting security in a big way.
Significantly increase resources for security work. The average enterprise allocates roughly 10% of its tech spend to security. Consider doubling that. There are likely thousands of vulnerabilities that need fixing in your environments. Security through obscurity no longer works, all that can be exploited will be exploited.
This issue is a very very real one. Three things I think about:
- Historically you metric security investment as a % of all technology spend. That moves by industry of course. AI changes these numbers and we aren’t sure where they land but they are more, and not just a little.
- If you are investing 1M in AI you should be considering what % of that new investment is going to be allocated to security concerns that come from AI adoption. Every new AI dollar should have some new security cents.
- If you start hosting your own models and running on your own hardware that also comes with unique security matters that need to be factored into the cost.
AI has given nearly anyone “close to” nation state attack capabilities.
