  "note": "Yes, Data Governance has a terrible brand problem. It starts and ends in the 2nd word. Who likes \"Governance\". It sounds slow, cumbersome, bureaucratic. And just for extra, it sounds expensive. Two thoughts:\n\n1. The article focuses collaboration around data and the like. Perhaps Data Collaboration is a better term. I do like that it better defines the actual problem.\n2. Product thinking has become the norm for many things that are not just products that you buy. There are now product owners for APIs, frameworks, platforms. Could the future of Data Covernance be some form of Data Product Owner role?\n\nOrganizations do need to figure this out. While modern tools in the cloud make it easier to modify and change data, even duplicate it at a lower cost, it still adds cost and friction to the process when you have to do that. ",
