Interesting approach to selling songs as NFTs.
One of one digital records. Owned by you. Free from platforms. A blank canvas for a new world of music ownership.
The FAQ answers a ton of questions. The NFT itself is mostly a metadata pointer, and the song file is hosted on IPFS which is a great way to do this. Just like any other NFT the song can be resold, and anyone can listen to the song even though only one person owns it. There is no way for the NFT owner to get value from the plays of the song, and Catalog is explicit that "No rights are included", so owning the NFT is simply a form of collecting or being a fan.
The interesting thing would be to take this a step further and enable sharing of royalty, and allow more than a single NFT holder. It is super curious experimentation of a Web3 approach for music. Found via NiftyTable.
