The Fatiguing Effects of Camera Use in Virtual Meetings: A Within-Person Field Experiment - PsycNET

We now have proper research that shows that camera use during virtual meetings does indeed fatigue people. I don't think this is an obvious reason to then not use cameras. There is real value conveyed via the video, but there is also a cost to consider.
